Pastor Niemoller was a German cleric who spoke from the pulpit against National Socialism in the early thirties after the churches had been instructed to dispense Nazi propaganda. Niemoller noticed that his fellow clerics who did not follow the Party line had started to 'disappear'. Despite this he risked his life and publicly spoke out and this is a translation of his text. He was arrested but managed to escape with the help of friends to the USA where he lived till 1984..
