LP1029 Worms and Gods

Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592)

Excepting only that he didn't believe women to be capable of perfect love (only for men) he is the first Modern to write about the philosophy of the everyday with wit and perspicacity, full of lightly expressed deep knowledge. He is a joy to read, eg: 'if you think you are enlightened go and stay with your parents for a week'
